Subscribe to the New Event Calendar

By now you probably have noticed the new event calendar on the band's schedule page. This new format provides more information along with photos in an updated format. 

If you are a Google Calendar user, you may already have added our shared Google Calendar to your own Google Calendar. Going forward, the Google Calendar is NOT going to be maintained. Instead, anyone can subscribe to the new calendar. Not only can it be integrated into Google Calendar, but users of iCalendar, Outlook and others also can add the new calendar. Here's now:

  • From allentownband.com, select Schedule

  • Scroll to the bottom of the event list and select "View Calendar"

  • The new page shows an expanded list, and includes options to view by month, day, etc. Simply scroll down to the bottom of the expanded list. Near the bottom of the page there is a "Subscribe to Calendar" button:

  • Click on "Subscribe to Calendar"

  • Choose an appropriate option from the displayed list. For example, if you choose Google Calendar, your browser should open your Google Calendar in a new tab. Follow the instructions to add the calendar to your own displayed calendars, and you're all set!

Each year, as part of the band's community outreach, we welcome up to 50 talented area high school musicians to join us, playing a "Side-by-Side" program. The Allentown Band is very excited to announce that the 2025 Side-by-Side Concert, Sunday May 4th at Miller Symphony Hall, Allentown,  features the music of John Williams.  Many of the selections for this program have been recorded by the band on Volume 31 of the "Our Band Heritage" series. Dr. Demkee Retires from Allentown Symphony Orchestra

Followers of The Allentown Band likely are very aware that Ron Demkee, a very long-tenured conductor of the band, also has been the Associate/Pops Conductor and Principal Tuba Ronald Demkee of the Allentown Symphony Orchestra. Ron is retiring from these positions at the conclusion of the 2023-2024 season, which will be his 45th season as a member of the Allentown Symphony Orchestra. (FEAR NOT! Ron is continuing in his position at the band's helm.) “Live music in the Lehigh Valley and Ron Demkee are synonymous,” said ASO Music Director/Conductor Diane Wittry. “We are honored at the Allentown Symphony to have had such a long association with Ron both as Principal Tuba and as Associate/Pops Conductor.
